For waste collection in Nagoya City, you will need the following three designated trash bags approved by the city. They come in three sizes for household use: 10, 20, and 45 liters. Available for purchase at Supermarkets, Home improvement stores, Convenience stores, and other locations.

This is to prevent fire accidents at crushing facilities and during trash collection.

Types of batteries:
  • Alkaline, manganese dry batteris
  • Button and Coin batteries
  • Rechargeable Mobile batteries
  • Rechargeable Lithium batteries
Small rechargeable batteries
  • Lithium-ion batteries
  • Nickel-cadmium batteries
  • Nickel-metal hydride batteries
Collect all types of batteries and place them in a transparent or semi-transparent bag that is not the designated bag. The contents should be visible.
(Note: Do not use the city-designated bags for combustible waste, non-combustible waste, or recyclable waste.)

They will be collected on the same day as the weekly recyclable waste bag collection.
For 2-chōme, it's on Monday.

(Please place them separately from the recyclable waste bag.)

Designated bag: Gather the flammable hazardous materials in a designated recyclable bag or a transparent or translucent bag that allows you to see the contents.

2-chōme Collection station Every week on Tuesday
Each individual takes the trash to the designated location in the neighborhood, behind the Aburae-Tenjin Shrine (north side) on the street. The city-designated bags for Nagoya are prepared there, so please put the trash (PET bottles, empty cans, empty bottles) in them.

Paper containers and packaging, mixed paper should be placed in your own recyclable trash bag.
 
Time: 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
(Please do not put out trash out of this time.)

Types of trash collected at 2-chōme station
  • PET bottles
  • Empty cans (including aluminum cans, candy cans, and aluminum caps of glass bottles, etc.)
  • Glass bottles
  • Paper containers and packaging: paper bags, candy boxes, empty boxes, wrapping paper, potato chip containers, etc.
  • Mixed paper: Toilet paper cores, postcards, envelopes, calendars, copy paper, etc.
Request
  • Please rinse containers such as PET bottles, Cans, and Glass bottles with water before disposing of them.
  • Remove the cap and label from PET bottles, crush the PET bottles and aluminum cans.
  • * Put the cap and label of PET bottles in the recyclable waste bag and place it in front of your house on the trash collection day.
  • Remove the aluminum or plastic cap from glass bottles.
    Put the plastic caps in the recyclable waste bag and place it in front of your house on the trash collection day.
  • Please remove the paper labels from cans as much as possible.

Non-combustible waste (details) every fourth Wednesday of the month.
Place it in front of your house by 8 a.m. on the day.

Bulk Item Disposal (details) Every fourth Wednesday of the month.
Place in front of your house by 8:00 a.m. on the day.
  • Pre-registration (written in only Japanese language) and fee payment ticket are required for Bulk Item Disposal.
  • Bulky waste requires advance application and payment of fees. You can purchase payment tickets at supermarkets or convenience stores like Piago.

  • Please bundle cardboard, newspapers, magazines/books, etc. with string, and put old clothes/cloths in a clear plastic bag.
  • Separate newspapers and inserts/leaflets and tie them up with a string before disposing of them.
If you live in an apartment or condominium, please be sure to tie trash up and put them out of the outside of the [Large Trash container] so that it does not obstruct traffic. Put it out by 8:00 am on the day. Please do not put out the trash at night.
